I have been planning projects in the form of video productions for many years now, but I’ve never had any sort of formal project management training. Production is certainly specialized, with its own set of protocols and best practices, but having this fundamental overview of project management will be incredibly helpful moving forward.
Specifically, the methods of time-tracking will be particularly useful, as much of what I do is estimate time and budgets for future projects.
I can definitely see the benefits of using a program such as MS Project. I barely scratched the surface of what that program can do. I can easily see though how one could be obsessed with making the perfect MS Project schedule and forget to actually get any work/the project done.
I’m definitely excited to apply these new skills to my next production.
